Bio
Brent Arnold uses a cello, his voice, and a battery of effects pedals to create songs of unhinged beauty and searing intensity, with an unorthodox yet virtuosic approach to the instrument. The music ranges from minimal to massive, often within a single song.
He has been compared to cello pioneers like Arthur Russell and Tom Cora, as well as classical/pop tinkerers like Andrew Bird and Owen Pallett and the heavy beauty of Sigur Rós and Explosions in the Sky.
He has worked with artists including Modest Mouse, Sleater-Kinney, DJ/Rupture, Eyvind Kang, Brand New, Karl Blau, Lenny Kravitz, Filastine, and many more.
After studies with Walter Gray of the Kronos Quartet and jazz violinist Michael White in Seattle, Brent worked extensively with the acclaimed Up Records label before his move to Brooklyn, NY.
