right now in Copenhagen, masses are demonstrating while sequestered leaders haggle over a plan that, even in its best formulation, is not going to be nearly enough. but don’t worry, here in icy cold NYC i’m trying to finish a record that i’m pretty sure is going to solve everything.
oh art, you are so pretty and useless.
anyway, thanks to Tony and Wayne, Boston’s Beat Research crew. I had a lovely show up there and I’ll be posting an excerpt soon. and thanks to everyone who came out to the Living Room show, packed the house and listened so attentively– a really great feeling. i’m very excited about my next show, Feb. 4 at the new Knitting Factory in Brooklyn, with the fantastic guitarist Kelli Rudick and a really intriguing fellow solo cellist, Emily Hope Price. mark your calendars my dears, i hope to see you. i promise our formulations will be ambitious enough to save us from armageddon.

Brent Arnold is a cellist and composer with a wildly unorthodox approach, using amplification, guitar-like fingerpicking, electronics, and techniques from Arabic, Eastern, and African music.
He has worked with DJ/Rupture, Modest Mouse, Wayne Horvitz, Eyvind Kang, Sleater-Kinney, Death in Vegas, and Filastine.
He composed the cello music for Louis C.K.'s show Louie and numerous films and shorts.
